Day of fasting for peace
September 21st Program: 24 Hour Fast
International Day of Peace: Shaping Peace Together
On this International Day of Peace, September 21st, 2020, the Jai Jagat Campaign is calling for a radical change in our society. We, as a human family, have the opportunity to fast together for 24 hours (beginning from 7pm on 20th September to 7pm on 21st September). This act of self-suffering emboldens us to make changes in our own behaviour and actions, if we are to build a more just and peaceful world.
The UN’s “Shaping Peace Together” appeals to people to spread compassion, kindness and hope in the face of the pandemic and to eradicate poverty; reduce discrimination; ameliorate the climate crisis; and stop violence and wars. It is imperative that we learn from this pandemic about the fragility of the earth, and our interactions, and find ways to commit ourselves to policies and practices that restore peace and nonviolence for the sake of the next generations.
